Ana Teles is an artist and researcher whose primary medias encompass painting, drawing, photography, and performance.

Her research is characterised by a critical engagement with contemporary discourses in the domains of replication, copying, appropriation, artistic language, and value within the context of contemporary art. Teles is particularly interested in the concept of authenticity, the role of gesture in painting, and the dynamics of interaction among artists.

Her practice-based PhD investigated the process of copying the work of other artists, in collaboration with them, to understand how the participation of the maker of the original work contributed to making of the copy, not just with respect to the aesthetic qualities of the painting but also its ontological qualities, that is, its standing and reception within the art world.
